J.O. "Dude" Culbreath

J.O. "Dude" Culbreath, age 88, a Caddo, OK resident, was born on Tuesday, July 7, 1925, to Roy and Nettie (Brooks) Culbreath, at Caddo, OK. Dude passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2013 at Durant, OK. He attended Maytubby School outside of Caney. Dude was a rancher, worked many years for Oklahoma Department of Transportation and was a member of the Caney School Board, education was his top priority.

Dude proudly served his country in The U.S. Army in WWII. He married Hazel Mason on July 10, 1947 in Sherman, TX. Dude was a member of the Voca Baptist Church. He Served in the U.S. Army in France and Germany, was a POW in Germany and received the Purple Heart.Dude was a Lifetime member of the VFW and DAV.

Dude is survived by his wife, Hazel Culbreath of the home in Caddo, OK.; children, Betty Brister and husband Nick of Caney, OK., J.L. Culbreath and wife Barbara of Caddo, OK., Phillip Culbreath and wife Jeanie of Caddo, OK., Barbara King of Caney, OK., Peggy Vaughn and husband Harlan of Caddo, OK.; grandchildren, Karen Adams and husband Mitch of Purcell, OK., Matt Brister and wife Robin of Caney, OK., Clint Culbreath and wife Kim of Caddo, OK., Jeff Culbreath and wife Kera of Lane, OK., Lacey McKay and husband Dustin of Caddo, OK., Jason Culbreath and wife Amy of Caddo, OK., Joe Culbreath and wife Amber of Caddo, OK., James Culbreath and wife Krystle of Caddo, OK., Regina Robinson and husband Rusty of Sherman, TX., Natalie Vaughn of Edmond, OK.; brothers, Alton Culbreath and wife Joy of Durant, OK., Bill Culbreath of Tulsa, OK.; great grandchildren, Dylan Rowe, Jackson Adams, Katie Adams, Mason Adams, Kenize Hartwell,

Will Brister, Peyton Brister, Brylen Brister, Ashlyn Culbreath, Adelyn Culbreath, Avery Culbreath, Audrey Culbreath, Halli Culbreath, Carson Culbreath, Caylex Culbreath, Kyle Cross, Hannah Cross, Kadey McKay, Jake McKay, Landon Robinson, Brennen Robinson, Grant Robinson, Hannah Robinson; along with many loving friends.

Dude was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Nettie (Brooks) Culbreath; siblings, R.C., Roy Jr., Talmage, Argene, Verna Mae, Flossie, Tomi, Kathryn, Nova, Syliva.

In Lieu of Flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Dude Culbreath Memorial Scholarship Fund at the Caney Schools.

Services will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday, October 30th, 2013 at Voca Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. John Howard, Rev. Clint Culbreath, Rev. Trey Hedrick, & Rev. Jeff McCreary. Interment will be at Caddo Cemetery, Caddo, Oklahoma.
