May Battiest (Choate) Varner, of Blue, Oklahoma was born August 21, 1952 to Rufus Sr. and Itsie (Battiest) Choate. May passed away at her home on April 22, 2014 at the age of 61 years.

May attended Bennington Public Schools and was of the Methodist faith. May and JR Varner were united in marriage on December 17, 1991 in Denison, Texas and she worked as a hair dresser for most of her life. May enjoyed watching grandkids play ball, fishing, canning, sewing and quilting, and spending time in the mountains. She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.

May is preceded in death by her parents Rufus Sr. and Itsie Choate and her brother Rufus Choate Jr.

Survivors are her loving husband JR Varner of the home; daughters Kimberley Galaway and spouse Chuck of Calera, OK, Kristie Sample of Elgin, OK, Tanesha Robinson and spouse Kelly of Blue, OK; son Mike Varner and spouse Temple of Blue, OK; brothers Franklin Choate of Bennington, OK, John Henry Choate of Durant, OK, Melvin Choate and spouse Yvonne of Arizona, Andy Choate and spouse Norma of Antlers, OK; sister Ruth Morgan and spouse John of Sherman, TX; brother-in-law James Varner and spouse Sherrie of Calera, OK; grandchildren Chelsea Pair, Taylor Robinson, Ashlynn Robinson, Tanner Hearon, Jaron Varner, and numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of May will be held Monday, April 28, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. with Bro. Donnie Hyde officiating. Family will receive friends on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. at the funeral home. Online condolences can be made to the family at
