Mary Sue Walker Buchanan was born to Frank and Loretta Walker May 5, 1939, in Marlow, Oklahoma. Sue passed away January 30 in Denison, Texas, at the age of 74.
She graduated from Marlow High School in 1957, living mostly in Stephens County until she moved her family to Durant in 1975. Sue worked in a number of jobs as well as being a homemaker. She quickly became well-known through her work at Naifeh's Western Wear and at the Bryan County Detention Center for youth.
She was active at the First Christian Church, where she was a member and in other social groups including the Newcomers Club.In later years, she enjoyed keeping up with everyone on Facebook, spending time with her grandchildren, and the companionship of her dog Bella.
Sue was preceded in death by her mother and father, Frank and Loretta Walker; husband Jim Buchanan; and Aunt Tommye Wright of Rush Springs.
She is survived by her son, Donnie Husband and wife Hollie of Ada; daughter Kristin Corbin and husband Scott of Durant, step-daughter Sidney Fleming and husband Bob of Lubbock; along with grandchildren Lauren Gibson, Jay Husband, Mayson Husband, Rachel Corbin; Noah, Aaron, Caleb, and Joshua Ligon, Danalynn Ray Husband, Hadlie Janelle Husband, and Alex Fleming.
A celebration of Sue's life will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, February 10, 2014 at the First Christian Church in Durant. Fairview Pastor Bill Ledbetter, and Chris Pierce will speak.
