Cecile Louise (McKinney) Tyson a resident of Durant left this life in Plano, Texas and arrived in the arms of her Savior on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at the age of 98 years 2 months and 15 days.She was born in Nida, Oklahoma to Ed and Mima (Hall) McKinney on April 6, 1916. Cecile McKinney married Joe Tyson in Durant, Oklahoma on Christmas Day, December 25, 1941.

Cecile was a lifetime member of the First Christian Church in Durant where she organized Bible School and was the chair of the Naomi Circle. She graduated from the Durant High School and from Southeastern Oklahoma State University. Cecile had a strong work ethic and a diverse work history. At one time she worked at the Plaza Theater in Durant selling tickets, she taught school in Stringtown, Oklahoma, was a secretary for Clear-vue Cable Company and also worked for the First National Bank. Cecile loved children and was a teachers-aide at Washington Irving School before retiring. She loved to travel and see new places whenever she could.

Mrs. Tyson is survived by her daughter, Cindy Kirkpatrick and husband Ted of Durant, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Tad Kirkpatrick of Frisco, Texas and Ceciley Sehi and husband Kirk of Umbarger, Texas; great-grandchildren, Cylan Louise Sehi of Umbarger, Texas and Rowan Louise Kirkpatrick of Frisco, Texas; sister, Mardy Nispel of Dallas, Texas; brother, Ford McKinney of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Tyson was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Mima McKinney; husband, Joe Tyson; brother, Hall McKinney; sister, Rosemary McKinney.

A Church Service will be held to honor her memory at 2:00 PM Wednesday, June 25,2014, at the First Christian Church in Durant with Rev. B J Tapley officiating. Interment will follow at the Highland Cemetery. The pallbearers will be Tad Kirkpatrick, Kirk Sehi, B.J. Dalton, Roger Harris, Scott Moore, Charlie Baker and Joe Kirkpatrick.
