Jesse Lorenda (Ledford) Mitchell a resident of Durant, Oklahoma passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at the age of 90 years and 4 months. She was born in Calera, Oklahoma to Jessie and Hattie (Martin) Ledford on Sunday, March 16, 1924. Lorenda Ledford married C.W. Mitchell in Durant, Oklahoma he preceded her in death on May 12, 1991.

Lorenda was a member of the Baptist Faith. She was dedicated to caring for her family and home. Lorenda was one of those rare individuals who made her own clothing. She loved to cook and prepare delicious meals for her family and friends developing a taste for spiced peaches along the way. Lorenda was very talented with a needle and enjoyed sewing, crafts and crosstitching. She cherished her family and loved working in her yard with them.

Mrs. Mitchell is survived by her sons, Freddie Mitchell and wife Linda of Mill Creek, Oklahoma and Calvin Mitchell and wife Beverly; grandsons, Heath Mitchell and wife Elisa of Durant, Oklahoma and Kevin Mitchell of Louisiana; granddaughter, Amy Sinclair; great-grandsons, Zachery Mitchell and Kala Posey of Kenefic, Oklahoma and Corey Mitchell of Austin, Texas; great-granddaughter, Sierra Mitchell of Durant, Oklahoma; great-great-grandchildren, Daelan Mitchell of Kenefic, Oklahoma and Remington Mitchell of Kenefic, Oklahoma; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Betty and Vernon Reid of Durant, Oklahoma.

Mrs. Mitchell was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie and Hattie Ledford; husband, C. W. Mitchell; grandson, Lance Mitchell; brothers, Elvin, Dewey and Victor Ledford; sister, Dolly Parish.

A Graveside Service in honor of her memory will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, July 18, 2014 at the Rosehill Cemetery Pavilion in Calera with Rev. Dan McLemore officiating.
