Jackie Kent (1946 - 2014)

Jackie Dale Kent was born on November 21, 1946 in Wade, OK to R. Q. and Mary Lou (Atkinson) Kent and passed from this life on July 17, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family at the age of 67 years, 7 months and 28 days.

Jackie has been a lifelong resident of Bryan County and graduated from Durant High School and Southeastern Oklahoma State University earning his bachelor's degree. He was a long time employee of Johns-Manville in Denison and was a graphic designer. He married Janet Johnson on August 5, 1988 in Durant and they were blessed with 25 plus years together. He was a member of Phi Sigma Kappa, B.A.S.S., Little Dixie Bass Club, FLW and the Red River Bass Club. He enjoyed the fellowship at Faith Church in Sherman, fishing, photography and birds.

Jackie was preceded in death by his father, R. Q. Kent and brother, Roger Kent.

Jackie is survived by is wife Jan of the home; mother, Mary Lou Kent of Durant; sons, Kenny Dale Kent and wife Barbara of Durant and Denny Applewhite of Durant; grandchildren, Kassidy Kent, Ryan, Reid and Maryssa Applewhite and numerous other family members and friends.

A celebration of Jackie's life will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Brown's Funeral Service Chapel. Interment will be in Bokchito Cemetery with Ryan Applewhite, Reid Applewhite, Maryssa Applewhite, Bo Rhodes, Hunter Murphree, Tony Kaai, Jon Clouse, Lee Hammil and Josh Murphree serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the Phi Sigs and Bass Club Members. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Friday evening from 6-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Crisis Control Center of Bryan County, PO Box 113 Durant, OK 74702 Condolences may be sent to the family at www.brownsfunerslservice.com.
