Donna Dastrup Kidman, 70, passed away on June 8, 2013, at the El Camino Hospital in Mountain View, CA. She was born January 2, 1943, in Los Angeles, CA, to L. Garn and Naomi Friedman Dastrup.
Donna spent her early years both in Siguard, UT and Salt Lake City, UT, until the death of her mother when she was five years old. She then moved to Siguard to live with her paternal grandparents. She also lived with her maternal grandmother in southern California. She moved back to Salt Lake City, where she graduated high school. Shortly thereafter, she met Gary L. Kidman and they married in the Manti Temple. They spent their married life in Salt Lake City, UT, Sunset, UT, Foster City, CA, Spanish Fork, UT, and St. George, UT. Together they raised seven children.
She loved; reading, her grandkids, cooking, her grandkids, family reunions at Lake Powell, caring for her family, and her grandkids. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served faithfully he whole life. She served in many callings and loved them all, but her life-long desire was to serve a full time mission. She has been serving for the past 18 months with her husband in the California San Jose Mission where she passed away from cancer three days after completing her mission.
She is survived by her: husband, Gary L. Kidman; children, Wendy (David) Butler, Devin (Jennifer) Kidman, Kareen (Kevin) Warnick, Randy (Rachel) Kidman, Tricia Kidman, Brandon (Lindsey) Kidman, and Tara (Dave) Olsen; 30 grandchildren (with one on the way) and 3 great-grandchildren (with one on the way); siblings, Dennis (Dusty) Dastrup, Warren Dastrup, Bruce Dastrup, Kent Dastrup, Gary Dastrup, Melanie Dastrup and Darcie Crafton. She was preceded in death by her: parents and step-mother Helen Dastrup.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, June 17, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at the Little Valley 3rd Ward Chapel, 2079 E. 2450 S., St. George, UT. Visitations will be held Sunday, June 16, 2013 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and again prior to the service on Monday, from 9:30 to 10:30, both at the Chapel. Interment will follow the service at the Tonaquint Cemetery, St. George, UT.
