Emoret Boshell(1927 - 2014)

Emoret Skidmore Boshell

Cedar City

Emoret Skidmore Boshell, 86, passed away at Valley View Hospital in Cedar City, Utah on June 26, 2014. She was born July 27, 1927 to Evan Justin and Eleanor Lyman Skidmore in Delta, Utah. The oldest of eleven children, she learned the value of hard work and a love for the outdoors while working with her father and grandfather on the family farm.

After graduating from high school she continued her education in nursing at the University of Utah. After graduation she worked as a nurse which took her to San Francisco where she met her eternal companion Ralph Leslie Boshell.

Emoret and Ralph raised their three children in Hamilton Fort where she loved the view of Shurtz' Canyon. Emoret worked for years in the Cedar City Hospital and later as a public health nurse, home health nurse and school nurse.

After retiring from nursing she pursued her love of gardening by opening the Boshell Nursery. The highlight of those years was the friendships made. She was known for her beautiful flower gardens and for the floral arrangements she shared with others. Emoret had many talents and hobbies that she shared freely with others. Sewing, quilting, and painting were just a few. Emoret loved the outdoors and had a 'green thumb'. She grew a large garden and visitors often left with vegetables, flowers, and farm fresh eggs. The grandchildren loved coming to grandma's house at Christmas to pick out a handmade blanket.

Widowed at the age of 54, Emoret was a strong willed and independent woman. She often spoke what was on her mind, but cared for everyone as shown through her kindness and generosity. She was preceded in death by husband Ralph, daughter Cathy Orton, grandson Kelly Orton, grand-daughter Bethany Peterson, parents, brothers Gordon and Scott.

Emoret is survived by her son Evan (Ruth) of Panguitch, daughter Claudia (Philip) Peterson of St. George, and son-in-law Larry (Karen) Orton of Cedar City, 15 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren; Louise (Grant) Nielson, Marylyn Mickelson, Edward (Velma) Skidmore, Gail (Linda) Skidmore, Nancy Todd, Nona (Giles) Florence, Julie (Reed) Skeem, and Brent (Marsha) Skidmore.
