Hurricane, Utah

Gary Reid Thompson, age 74, passed away November 7, 2013 at home in Hurricane, Utah due to complications from 48 years of diabetes.

Gary was born in Ogden, Utah on January 11, 1939. Raised in Roy, Utah through junior high when he moved to Spring Lake, Utah. After many crazy adventures, with now lifelong friends, he traveled across the country working on the pipeline. He married Dona Mae Allen December 5, 1960 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Gary settled down when their children reached school age. They later divorced. He worked at Ireco-Tradestar in West Jordan, UT until he retired. He married Claudia Bragonje on June 22, 1986 in the Jordan River Temple. In 2000, they moved from Sandy to Hurricane, Utah, where they enjoyed the sunshine. Gary loved fishing, hunting, camping, cooking, gardening and his family.

He is survived by his wife, Claudia; children, Troy (Jerilee) Thompson of Kaysville, UT, Tammy (Mark) James of Morristown, NJ, Heather Crane of West Jordan, UT, Eric (Katrina) Mitchell of Bountiful, UT, Crystal (Charles) Mitchell-Taylor of Draper, UT; sisters, Nelda Wylie and Renee Soltis; and multiple grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and one great-grandson. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Susie Mower and Milton Thompson; sisters, Colleen and Shirley; and two infant brothers.

There will be a viewing Wednesday, November 13, 2013 from 6:00-7:00 p.m. at the Hurricane Spilsbury Mortuary, 25 N. 2000 W., Hurricane, UT. An additional viewing will be held Saturday, November 16, from 10:00-11:00 a.m. with graveside services immediately following at the Mountain View Memorial Estates Mortuary and Cemetery, 3115 E. 7800 S., Cottonwood Heights, UT.

The family wishes to thank the numerous family, friends, and neighbors who have reached out during this time. Those who wish to make a donation in lieu of flowers are asked to donate to the Perpetual Education Fund of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
