The Guest Book is expired.
Stanley Paul Whetman, beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully at his home on February 8, 2014 at the age of 73 after a long courageous battle with Wegener's Granulomatosis. He was born on September 20, 1940 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Eugenia and Raymond Whetman. Paul married the love of his life Lois Ann Darby on September 17, 1963 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Paul was active in the LDS Church, his profession and in his community. He retired after nearly 4 decades in banking going to work for Walker Bank at age 18 and retiring from Wells Fargo as a Vice President and Manager of the Cedar City Branch. He graduated from the American Institute of Banking and served as an instructor for many years. He served as President of the Midvale Rotary Club and was active in the Cedar City Rotary Club. He was Chairman of the Board for Cedar City Music Arts; he served on the Board of Directors for Valley View Medical Center; and he was instrumental in bringing the industrial park to Cedar City. He loved coaching little league baseball, basketball, and football often taking his teams to championships in Midvale and Cedar City. His greatest joy came from spending time with his family and serving as a bishop in a college ward. He also loved watching John Wayne Westerns, hunting, fishing, camping, reading Louis L'Amour Western novels, playing the drums, and playing golf even enjoying the golf course at Southgate Golf Club in the heat of the summer months in St. George.
Paul is survived by Lois Ann, their son Chris Whetman and his spouse Coleen; their daughter, Aimee Bulloch and her spouse Robb; their daughter-in-law Suzanne Whetman; his brother Clell Whetman, his sister-in-law Marilyn Whetman, and 10 wonderful grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Jeffery Paul Whetman, and siblings Leah Pierce, Jim, Hal and Glen Whetman. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. We will miss Dad, but are comforted by our knowledge of eternal life and eternal families. Our sadness is balanced by our knowledge of the joyful, heavenly reunion he is now experiencing.
