TJ Carter

Cedar City, Utah

Thomas James "TJ" Carter, son of Benson "Bengy" Caroll Carter and Lorilyn Cooper Carter, passed from this life April 6, 2013. He was born March 18, 1991 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

TJ attended Texas A&M University Corpus Christi on a full-ride scholarship for rodeo. He was working towards a career in sports medicine. He was also very creative and gifted as an artist. TJ was a member of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association and the Professional Bull Riders. He was often known as "Hot Man Carter!! In 2012 he earned Rookie of the Year with the Rocky Mountain Region and in the Little Britches Rodeo was ranked 5th in the world. His little niece Piper was the joy of his life. TJ had the biggest heart, love for people and he was loved by many.

He is survived by his parents, sister Taylor, niece Piper, and grandparents Zimmie and Nancy Carter, all of Cedar City, Utah. TJ is preceded in death by his grandfather Marty Devine and his grandmother Sue Doney.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 12, 2013 at 11:00 am at the Cross Hollows Stake Center (2830 W Cody Dr) in Cedar City, Utah. Visitations will be held Thursday, April 11, 2013 from 6-8:00 pm at Southern Utah Mortuary (190 N 300 W) in Cedar City, Utah and Friday, April 12, 2013 from 9:30-10:30 am at the church. Interment will be in the Cedar City Cemetery under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary. Online condolences can be made at www.sumortuary.com.
