Ernest Walter Simons Jr., 79, of Splendora, Texas passed away on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at his residence in Splendora, Texas. He was born on Wednesday, December 16, 1936 in Groveton, Texas to Ernest Walter Simons Sr. and Pauline Votaw Simons, both of whom have preceded him in death. Ernest was also preceded in death by his sons, Chris Lindsey, Bart Simons, sister, Martha Gustin, brothers, Willy Simons, Harvey Smitherman, Wayne Simons. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 29 years Georgia Simons; daughters, Cissy Horn, Dee Dee Blankenship, Debbie Johnson and husband Keith, Gina Ogle and husband Chris, Kim Bourne and husband Pat, Judie Hale and husband Troy, Kerry Webb and husband Jack, Greg Lindsey and wife Mandy, Denise Hayman and husband Jason; sons, Ernie Simons, Wes Simons and wife Sandy, Ernest Simons and wife Marcie, Kenneth Simons and wife Rachel, Chris Simons; Sister, Opal Simons Gloria; Brother, Sam Votaw; along with numerous other loving family and treasured friends. Ernest was a life time member of Veterans of Foreign War Post 4816, American Legion Post 615 and the Disabled Veterans. He served his country in the Korean War. Ernest lived in Montgomery County the majority of his life where he was involved in and supported all Armed Forces by attending the local events. He enjoyed westerns, the original ones, he could recite them. He loved Audie Murphy, the actor. The Simons family will receive friends and family on Saturday, January 9, 2016 from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm. at Neal Funeral Home Chapel. There will be a Celebration of Life for Ernest at Neal Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 2:00 pm.
