Catherine Elizabeth Scotlan

Catherine Elizabeth Scotlan (Cathey) Resident of Oakland, CA Daughter of the late George P. and Christine Scotlan passed away on April 13, 2012 after a long illness. She was 42. Cathey was the loving sister of Robert (Patricia), Laura, Barbara and Joyce Scotlan. Cathey was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Priscilla, and her brother John. A native of Oakland, Cathey graduated from Sacred Heart Elementary School, Holy Names High School and the University of the Pacific (UOP) in Stockton, CA. Cathey was a powerful force on the UOP Tigers Women's Volleyball team from 1987 to 1990 where she earned Big West honors and was a two-time All-American. Following her collegiate career, Cathey played professional volleyball in Italy and Switzerland. She is also survived by her niece Tanya, great niece, Nailah, and a host of other family and friends. The Rosary Service will be held on Thursday, April 19, at 7:00 PM at Chapel of the Chimes, 4499 Piedmont Ave., Oakland. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 20 at 11:00 AM at St. Columba Catholic Church, 6401 San Pablo Ave., Oakland.
