Janet Wilson Obituary

Janet Marshall Wilson
January 28, 1950 ~ January 6, 2018
Resident of Concord, CA
Janet entered into eternal rest at her Concord home on January 6th, 2018, with her dear cat Peter and friends at her side. Janet was 67 years old and her struggle with end stage renal disease over.
Born in San Francisco on January 28th, 1950, Janet was a loving daughter and sister. Janet was a well known activist and courageous advocate for persons with mental illness. She received her Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1986 from the John F. Kennedy Law School in Pleasant Hill.
She was generous in giving & gracious in receiving. Janet loved nature and animals, and all things creative. She was a prolific writer, very witty, forthright & plainspoken.
Janet is survived by her loving brother Robert A. Wilson of San Jose, many cousins, and a wide circle of friends and colleagues.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Anthony Wilson, who was also gifted in law, her mother, Nancy Kelley Wilson, and her sister, Virginia.
A private gathering will be held on January 28th. A public celebration of her life will be announced later.

Janet obtained a beautiful Icelandic blanket when we lived there in the early 1970s. She held on to it for over 45 years and brought it up to Portland for me in 2017 as a birthday gift.

A beautiful keepsake

Janet co-parented my sister Sherrod and me back in the 70s. She deeply loved us and the feeling was mutual. Janet recently visited me in here in Portland for my 50th birthday and it was great seeing her again. My sister and I have fond memories of her and will miss her very much.

Janet -- such a fiery advocate! You never gave up on doing the right thing...

It was my privilege to know you in the short while I spent with the County, and then after...

Connie -- my heart goes to you..

With my traveling a great deal now and being in the mid-west from tomorrow through the end of the month, I will not be able to attend the memorial..

but send warmest best to all of you.
