Roy Dee Beardsley

Roy Dee Beardsley went to be with the Lord July 24, 2012, at age 91. He was born in Omaha, Nebraska. He was the oldest of five children born to Roy and Ethel (Jackson) Beardsley. They moved around quite a bit but when Roy was 18 he hopped a freight train and headed for California. After serving in the Army during World War II he met his wife of over 65 years, Lila, while working in the automatic fire sprinkler industry. They were married January 18, 1947, just five months after meeting and made their home in San Leandro. Roy was preceded in death by his oldest daughter, Terry Beardsley in November 2009, and his loving wife, Lila Beardsley, on May 25, 2012. He is survived by his daughter, Rita Ralston, son, Barry Beardsley and his wife Carla. He also leaves behind 9 grandchildren: Zachary, Randy and wife Tammy, Richie, Renae, Bryan and wife Victoria, Kevin and wife Angela; 11 great-grandchildren: Felicia, Chantelle, Alyssa, Bailey, Cory, Kylan, Desiree, Keven, Travis, Matthew and Jesse; and 1 great-great grandson, Kaydin. Of his 4 siblings only 1 brother remains, Harold Beardsley. His remaining extended family includes: 4 in-laws, numerous nieces and nephews along with their families. Family and friends were extremely important to Roy and he will be greatly missed by all. Memorial services for Roy will be at International Christian Center located at 562 Lewelling Boulevard in San Leandro. They will be held on Monday, August 6, 2012, at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to International Christian Center. Roy was a faithful member of ICC and considered this his home church for many years.
