Julian Maston Frazer Jr. Jun. 6, 1928 - Feb. 14, 2014 4th generation resident of Martinez Funeral services will be held Saturday in Martinez for lifelong resident Julian M. Frazer, Jr. who died February 14 following a short illness. He was 85. He was the great great grandson of William Beverly Frazer who settled in Franklin Canyon in the 1850s with succeeding generations raising cattle, walnuts, tomatoes and other crops. A 1947 graduate of Alhambra Union High School, the 18 year-old Julian bought a D2 Caterpillar tractor with a blade attached and went into business preparing neighboring fields for crops and very soon lots in Martinez and nearby community for home construction. Local contractors found him to be a reliable and skilled equipment operator. Later, as a member of Operating Engineers, Local 3, he was a crane operator on building and road projects throughout the Bay Area. He also continued ranching activities in Franklin Canyon throughout his life. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Virginia, his son Julian (Beth) of Martinez, his daughter Joann Newman (Chuck) of Casa Grande, Arizona, brothers Brian and Robert Frazer both of Martinez, sisters Lois Faria of Sacramento and Carole Moore of Grants Pass, Oregon. Also leaves behinds many nieces and nephews. A viewing will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. with a Vigil at 7 p.m. on Friday, February 21st at Connolly and Taylor Chapel in Martinez. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 22nd at 11 a.m. at Connolly and Taylor followed by interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Lafayette. Connolly & Taylor 925.228.4700
