Resident of Union City
Julieta "Let" Centeno-Hermida, 49 of Union City, California passed away peacefully on February 12, 2014 after a long battle with brain cancer.
Let was born in Candaba, Pampanga, Philippines as the second child of Faustino Centeno and Asuncion Sagcal. She spent most of her professional life working as an administrative and finance services manager for non-profits. First with OTRADEV, an NGO advocating for the rights of the Iraya Mangyan indigenous peoples of Mindoro Island in the Philippines and later, with the Legal Rights and Natural Resources Center, an NGO that campaigns and provides legal services to the various indigenous peoples in the Philippines. When she came here to America, she worked as part of the admin and finance team at the Independent Living Resource Center of San Francisco, a disability rights advocacy and support organization.
Let will be lovingly remembered by husband Angelo, son Julian; parents Tito and Susie; sisters Ding and Susan and brother Jojie; parents-in-law Joe and Tessie; sisters-in-law Cynthia, Cecille and Tess; brothers-in-law Elvis, Val, Jay and Roy; and nieces and nephews Mai, Vic, Junjun, EJ, Levin, Vian, Chanel, Gian, RC, Jayjay, Yuri and Jayboy.
Her memorial was held on February 15, 2014.
