James R. (Jimmy) Jose Obituary
James (Jimmy) R. Jose
Jan. 28, 1936 to Apr. 1, 2014
Resident of Martinez
Jim passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer's at the age of 78. He touched many lives with his humor and gentle spirit. No one was a stranger to Jim, once you met him you were part of the fabric of his life.
Jim was born and raised in Oakland CA. to Margaret (DeLima) Jose and Alfred Jose. After attending local schools, Jim joined the Army and served four years at Ft. Lewis WA during the Korean war as a mechanic. He took that experience and became an auto mechanic after his service. After a time he became a truck driver retiring after forty plus years in 2002.
In 1968 he married the love of his life Twila and inherited an immediate family with two kids, Brenda and Brian. He was such a loving husband and the best father one could ask for. When Brenda and Brian became involved with the Concord Blue Devils it became a family affair. Twila was a bus chaperone and Jim was a bus driver. He loved being around the kids and was always willing to lend a hand wherever it was needed.
Jim is predeceased by his loving wife Twila and son Brian. He is survived by his daughter Brenda Dugan(Dave), Grandson Alex Dugan, Granddaughter Siobhan Wheelan (Pete) and Great-grandson Owen Wheelan. He is also survived by his brother Alfred Jose (Carol), sisters Dorothy Jose Quintel and Dolores Jose McBride. Jim also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews.
The family requests donations in Jim's name to the Concord Blue Devils, 4065 Nelson Ave., Concord CA 94520.
Friends and family are invited to a celebration of Jim's life on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 11:00 am at Oak Park Hills Chapel, 3111 N. Main St., Walnut Creek CA. Following will be a hosted lunch at Zio Fraedo's, 611 Gregory Ln, Pleasant Hill CA. All are welcome.
