Trinidad passed away peacefully under the care of Hospice in Hayward, CA. Born in Mexico, the eldest son of the late Tomas Lopez and the late Leonarda Lopez (nee Escobar); preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Antonia M. Lopez; survived by daughters, Virginia R. Whalen, Alice M. Hoch, Margaret A. Holappa, Lucy A. Perez, Teresa M. Lopez and Irene M. McWhorter - survived by sons, Jorge L. Lopez, Anthony L. Lopez and Francis J. Lopez, preceded in death by infant son, James Lopez; survived by 21 Grandchildren, preceded in death by one infant Grandchild and survived by 10 Great-Grandchildren. Immigrated to the United States as a young child, became a Naturalized United States citizen as a young man, took several college courses throughout the years in the evening, retired after 34 years of service with the Southern Pacific Railroad as a Maintenance Foreman. He remained active post retirement as an all-around Handy Man and a craftsman of many leather products - enjoyed reading, hunting, and fishing; was an over-all sports fan, with an emphasis on Boxing, and always looked forward to outings to the cities of Reno and Las Vegas, NV to "try his luck". A proud, and Lifetime, member of the National Rifle Association. Viewing on Wednesday, May 7, 2014, from noon to 8PM; services on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at 10:30AM - both viewing and services held at Santos-Robinson Mortuary, San Leandro, CA - followed immediately by burial at Saint Mary's Cemetery, Oakland, CA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gentiva Hospice Foundation or a charity of your choosing.
