Lorenzo "Pete" Gonzales Peru, 87, of San Leandro, California, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at San Leandro Hospital. He was born in Virden, New Mexico on December 26, 1926, to Ysidora and Roque Peru. Lorenzo proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army during WWII as a paratrooper with the 11th Airborne Division. He worked as a professional chrome platter for thirty years and upon retirement he embarked on his second career at All American Rentals in Newark, California, for 15 years, working full-time until 6 months ago. The years he worked at All American Rentals were truly a bright point in his life. He was a faithful and dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Lorenzo was extremely loving and proud of his blended family. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte; his loving daughters Polly of Pleasanton, CA and Michelle of San Diego, CA; Loretta of San Pablo, CA; Norma of Pleasanton, CA; his beloved sister Josie Chavarria and her husband Marty of Indio, CA, his beloved brother Ray Peru of Duncan AZ; thirteen grandchildren and their spouses, eleven great grandchildren; as well as many loving nieces, nephews and friends. On Tuesday June 03, 2014 a viewing will be held from 10:00 – 12:45 AM and the service will be at 1:00PM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 13901 Bancroft Ave. San Leandro.
