Martin worked at Holy Sepulchre cemetery in Hayward for 25 years. Prior to that, he had worked in several capacities most especially on the Guinness brewery in Dublin, Ireland and many renowned skyscrapers in San Francisco. After retiring, Martin volunteered at his church, Catholic Church of the Assumption, which he was a member of for over 40 years. Martin was devoted to his faith and his family. One of 16 children and the oldest brother of the family Martin provided for many and expected nothing in return. Martin was married to his loving wife Anne for 52 years and raised three children in San Leandro. They met in the early 1960s in the Bay Area and found each other so far from home but were from villages nearby in Ireland. Martin loved spending time visiting with his many friends in the Bay Area.
