James P. Cassidy, 80, of Clovis, NM, passed away on March 27, 2008.
He was born on April 19, 1927, in Muscatine, IA, the only child of Laura and Rex Cassidy.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents Julia and Alfred Keath, and Myra and Hugh Cassidy.
He married Nancy Jo Blocksom on February 14, 1951. They had three children together and later divorced. He was a structural engineer at Daniel, Mann, Johnson, and Mendenhall in Los Angeles, CA, where he designed one of the first launch pads at Cape Canaveral and the bridges at Century City. Later he had his own business, Cassidy Computer Design, which provided computer services for civil and structural engineers over a period of more than 40 years. At the end of World War II, he served briefly in the Navy. He was an alumni of the University of Southern California and as an avid sports fan, was thrilled to see USC win the Rose Bowl once again this past year. He also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles.
Survivors include his three children and their spouses, daughter, Diane (Dean) Dyatt of Fruit Heights, UT; son, Michael J. (Patricia) Cassidy of Valencia, CA; daughter, Kathleen (Robert) Zoll of Colorado Springs, CO; former wife, Nancy Cassidy of Colorado Springs, CO; six grandchildren, Michael Dyatt, currently serving as a church missionary in Florida, Kathryn Cassidy, Valencia, Jillian (Josh) Fiedler, Matthew, Andrew and Lauren Zoll all of Colorado Springs, CO.
As per his wishes, there will be no services for Mr. Cassidy who has donated his body to Texas Tech University.
