1954 - 2012 Obituary Condolences
Memorial services for Mack Brown, 57, of Rogers, NM, will be at 10:30 AM, Saturday, February 4, 2012, at the First United Methodist Church in Portales with Rev. Michael Brunk officiating, assisted by Mike Woolley and Mack's children, Nathan, Sean and Andrea Brown.  Committal services will follow at 2:00 PM in the Inez Cemetery.  Those desiring to make memorial contributions may send them to the Inez Cemetery Fund, c/o Dennis Tollett, 1391 NM 235, Portales, NM 88130.
Elton Mack Brown, known to everyone as Mack, was born July 8, 1954, in Portales to Lavon and Elton L. Brown and died February 1, 2012, in Clovis.  Mack grew up in Portales, and was a 1972 graduate of Portales High School.  He continued his education at Eastern New Mexico University earning a Bachelor's degree in Accounting.  On August 21, 1976, in Jal, he was married to Susie Savoie.
Mack farmed in the Rogers community all of his adult life, and was known as one of the best dry land farmers in the area.  Mack served two terms as a committee member for Agriculture and Soil Conservation Services.  He was a board member for Farm Bureau and also the Roosevelt County Electric Coop.
Mack began working with children's sports teams even before he had children of his own.  He was responsible for much of the organization of American Youth Soccer Organization in this area, and coached teams for many years as well as serving as the President.  Mack was a Little Dribblers coach and organization president for Dora, and also coached Little League Baseball.   His children were involved in numerous sporting events and rodeos, and Mack was always there coaching, watching, and cheering them on.  He along with his family was a member of the First United Methodist Church where he served on the Board of Trustees.  Of course, there was his favorite activity in recent years of Monday Night Poker Club of which he was the "CEO."
He is survived by Susie, his wife of more than 35 years of their home; two sons, Sean Brown of El Paso, TX, and Nathan Brown of Rogers; a daughter, Andrea Brown of Albuquerque; his parents, Lavon and Elton Brown of Portales; and a sister, Donna Woolley of Portales; as well numerous nieces and nephews, many cousins and other family members and countless friends.
