Lena Belle Judah was born December 19, 1913, in Hollis, OK, to the home of Phoebe and John S. Kizer and died February 29, 2012, in Portales.  The family moved to Texas when she was a child, and came to the Lingo community in 1930 from Meadow, TX.  On December 1, 1931 in Clovis, she was married to Fred Judah.  They lived on the Judah home farm until 1961.  At that time they bought another farm from one of her husband's uncles and moved there in 1962.  Mrs. Judah worked alongside her husband in the fields, and devoted much of her time to taking care of their children.  A great deal of Mrs. Judah's lifetime was devoted to caring for their daughter, Joe Nell.
In 1970, they opened the Judah Farm Store in Causey which they ran until 1975.  At that time they rented it out, but remained in Causey until 1980.  The store was closed in 1980.  Lena was a faithful member of the Causey Church of Christ until she and her husband, came to Portales to make their home in 1980.  In Portales, she became a member of the Southside Church of Christ.
Lena had a wonderful sense of humor.  Both she and her husband loved teasing and joking, and were very jovial and laughed often.  Everyone who knew her will miss her sweet, gentle laugh and her big smile.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Joanne Judah of Capitan, NM; her daughter, Joe Nell who made her home with her mother; her daughter-in-law, Geneva (Mrs. Johnny) Judah who also made her home with Mrs. Judah and continues to care for Joe Nell; three grandchildren, Benny (Julie) Judah, Allan (Gretchen) Judah and Jimmy D. (Deborah) Judah; eight great-grandchildren, Kelsey and Blake, Ashley, Zach, Cortlyn, Eli and Jenise Judah and Jacinda (Evan) Simmons; and a great-great-grandchild, Judah Roy Simmons.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, George, Bill, J.B., Jim and Lee Kizer; three sisters, Sally Judah, Ruby Newberry and Ida Ruth Kizer who died as an infant; her son, Johnny Judah who died in 2000, and her beloved husband, Fred, who died November 26, 1995.
Arrangements are under the direction of Wheeler Mortuary of Portales, 575-356-4455.
