Lola Gunnell Adams

Lola Gunnell Adams, age 91, passed away peacefully at her home on April 17, 2005 after a short illness. She was born on November 13, 1913 in Howell, Utah, daughter of Charles Brown Gunnell and Myrtle Rebecca Cutler. She was preceded in death by her husband Dr. Lisle J. Adams. She has been a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a noble and honored handmaiden of the Lord! Lola married Lisle J. Adams in 1932 in the Logan Utah LDS Temple. They moved to Los Angeles, California where Lisle attended dental school at USC. They lived in Burbank, California for 43 years then moved to Mesa, Arizona in 1982. Lola has been active in her Church serving as a teacher, Stake Primary President, Stake Relief Society President, stake missionary with her husband, and temple worker. She was 1992 Arizona Mother of the Year of American Mothers, Inc. Lola was also active in Simada, a monthly study group. Lola's most recent achievement was authoring a 377-page book on her life and family history. A month before her passing, Lola chaired a dinner for fifty women, attended a family reunion, and hosted a luncheon in her home for the past Arizona Mothers of the Year. She is survived by her five children: Galene Randall (Harry) of Mesa; Dr. Kent Adams (Arlene) of Roy; Utah, Dr. Delos C. Adams (Patti) of Hooper, Utah; Rollin Adams (Juanita) of Mesa; Deanne Taylor (Devon) of Pleasant Grove, Utah; 30 grandchildren; 78 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by four siblings: Darwin Gunnell (Dorothy) of St. George, Utah; Karl A. Gunnell (Norene) of Mesa; Grant Gunnell (Alice) in Accra, Ghana; and Ruth Strong (Raymond) of Mesa. She was preceded in death by four brothers: Lamoine, Wayne, Don, and Harold. Funeral services are Friday, April 22 at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Mesa Lehi Stake building, 1430 N. Grand, Mesa. A viewing will be held on Thursday evening, April 21 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Bunker Garden Chapel, 33 N. Centennial Way, Mesa.
