CARRANZA, Barraza "Nona" Macedoniapassed away Friday Aril 15, 2011 in Mesa, AZ. Nona was born on January 30, 1919 in Metcalf, AZ to Daniel and Maria Barraza, she was born the 3rd of 10 children. Nona was preceded in death by her son Emilio and grandson Steven C. Fernandez. She is survived by her daughter Ruth Contreras, 3 grandchildren; Sylvia Luna, Irma Leon, and James Contreras; 2 great grandchildren Celena Kruszalnicki and Paul Leon, and 1 great-great grand daughter Piper Kruszalnicki. She is also survived by 1 brother Leo Barraza and 2 sisters Donicia Rutledge and Maria Elena Torres, along with many nieces and nephews. Nona was a life long member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Being devout in her faith she gave her free time in being a pastoral care giver, a sacristant, helping out in preparing for the liturgy, and sewing altar cloths. Devoted to the Blessed Mother Mary she was also a member of the Legion of Mary and helped form small rosary prayer groups. Nona retired from working at Kellwood Company for 30 years. Visitation will be held Monday April 25 6 to 8pm at Meldrum Mortuary 52 N. McDonald Mesa, AZ 85201. A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday April 26 10am at Queen of Peace Catholic Church 141 N. McDonald St. Mesa, AZ 85201. Memorial contributions can be made to Queen of Peace Catholic Church.
