O'NEIL, Daniel J., Jr.of Mesa, Arizona, passed away February 15, 2010 in Mesa, Arizona. He was born on March 20, 1925 in Hudson, New York, the son of the late Daniel J. O'Neil and Alice M. O'Neil. Daniel graduated Hudson High School, class of 1943. He served in the United States Marines from 1943 to 1948 and attended the State University of New York at Alfred. On Octob- er 1, 1949 he married the late Carolyn J. O'Neil, who passed away on October 7, 2006. Carolyn and Dan owned and operated O'Neil Florist, Hudson, New York, from 1952 until 1988, at the time of their retirement. Carolyn and Dan traveled from 1988 to 1992 before moving to Mesa, Arizona. Dan was an Exalted Ruler of the Hudson Elks Club where he has been a member for more than 45 years. He was also a New York State District Deputy of the Elks. Dan was a member of the Florist Transworld Delivery Association where he served on the Board of Directors for three years. He participated and chaired many local clubs and organizations. He attended the first and second World Conference of Florists in Hamburg, Germany 1962 and Amsterdam, Holland 1972. Dan has one son, James O'Neil, and his wife, Kristen O'Neil of LaGrangeville, New York, a granddaughter, Kimberly O'Neil, of Glastonbury, Connecticut. Dan was predeceased by his brother Frank O'Neil, sister Jane Miller and brother William O'Neil. His sister, Betty Bickel of Pawley's Island, South Carolina, survives. Dan will be missed by his son, daughter-in-law, granddaughter, his extended family, Josh, Rachel, J.J., Kevin, Miguel and Hannah Olivarez and their family members of Queen Creek, Arizona and his family friend Lisa Kahlil of Mesa, Arizona. Memorial services will be held on February 18, 2010 at the Wyman Funeral Home, 115 S. Country Club Drive, Mesa, Arizona. Commitment at the National Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Cave Creek, Arizona.
