WALKER, Eula Johnson 89, passed away on Thursday, June 14, 2012 in Mesa, Arizona. Funeral services are scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Mesa located at 1050 S. Hobson. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Concluding service and Interment will follow at the Mountain View Cemetery, 7900 E. Main St., Mesa, Arizona. Eula was born on March 31, 1923 to Joseph William and Delpha Lundquist Johnson in Chandler, AZ. Growing up on a small ranch southeast of Chandler, she loved being a part of a large family and the experiences and challenges of rural life. In December of 1944 she met Leland H. Walker, who was serving in the Army and stationed at the prisoner of war camp in Mesa, AZ. After a whirlwind courtship they were married on January 26, 1945 in the Mesa AZ Temple. After two tours of duty with the Army, they returned to live in Chandler where they raised their two sons. Eula went to work as a bookkeeper for the Chandler Public Schools in July of 1953. After many years of faithful service, she retired in June of 1984. Eula loved to travel and to record her experiences in photos. She visited places as far away as Europe and Guatemala and as close to home as the Natural Bridge in central Arizona. She loved to share these experiences with her family. Eula was lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints working in the Primary and MIA organizations, but her real interest was in genealogy. She served as Genealogy teacher, Ward examiner and in the extraction program. Her research was quoted in a newspaper article on the early settlers in this area. Eula is preceded in death by her husband, Lee; her mother and father; and 2 brothers Ellis A Dolly and Harold J Martha and one sister Lorene, two brother, Loren F. and Forrell C; and one grandchild. She is survived by her two sons, Norman Eugene Kathy and Russell Lee Evelyn, 15 grand children and 43 great-grand children. Arrangements are being handled by Bueler's Mortuary of Chandler.Sign the Guest Book
