Kenneth Donald Armbruster died August 13, 2013 at Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital. He was born in Auburn, Cailifornia on May 28, 1926 to George and Mamie Armbruster. He is survived by his wife of 36 years Rosalie. His son Robert and wife Rita, daughter Sharon and Bob Westafer and two deceased children, Jimmy and Dennis Armbruster. His step-children Timothy Hauser, twins Diane Hauser, and Donna Fox, Tracy and husband Gerald Hurst. Four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and six step-great grandchildren. Kenneth graduated from Placer High School in 1944 and an Associate Art Degree from Placer College in 1947. He entered the army as a private and went active July 1944. He was honorably discharged November, 1945, as the war had ended. He joined the Army Reserve in September, 1953, and attended ROTC and was appointed Second Lieutenant. He was honorably discharged in June, 1954. He was appointed by Deputy Sheriff E.J. Kennison in April, 1946. He was then appointed an Auburn Police officer by Chief Fred Adge in November of 1947. In 1948 he was appointed Constable by John I. Shannon leaving that position to join the California Highway Patrol. He was appointed to the CHP in June, 1948 and received Badge Number 788, which is one of the few remaining 3 digit ID's. He also served as Governor Pat Brown's driver during that period. He retired from Valley Division , as a Lieutenant on March 1, 1979, with a service retirement. He was very involved with different service organizations namely the Masons, Shriners, Elks Club, American Legion, Placer County Senior Center, where he was on the Board of Directors. He was also an Honorary Member of the Wah Ying Social Club in San Francisco for many years.
Memorial Services will be held on September 13, 2013, at the Auburn Elks Club, 195 Pine Street Auburn, Calif. From 11:00 a.m to 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Placer County Senior Center at the Dewitt Center, or the California Highway Patrol Windows and Orphans Fund.
