Eugene Wayne Boulding
Eugene Wayne Boulding, Ed.D., passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home in Auburn, Calif. on March 26, 2013. Wayne had celebrated his 86th birthday earlier in the month on March 13th with his wife Carol. Wayne and Carol were married on August 16, 1964. In addition to Carol, Wayne is survived by two daughters, three stepchildren, seven grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Dr. Boulding was a lifelong educator and began his career in Chico and served other California school districts as a teacher, coach, principal and Superintendent for numerous school districts including Auburn, Burbank and Liberty in Brentwood. Wayne was past president of the Association of School Administrators and active in a wide range of service organizations.
Wayne enjoyed athletics, especially team sports, having played basketball under the legendary UCLA coach John Wooden, who became a lifelong friend. He received many awards and recognitions, including his induction into the Sacramento City College Hall of Fame as a starter on the team that won the 1946 National Basketball Championship.
As an avid outdoorsman, Wayne especially enjoyed hunting and fishing with friends and family. At his request, a private family service will be held at the Lassila Funeral Chapel in Auburn. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Ronald McDonald House.
