George Shoop believed in faith, family, friends and country. He was a hard working man for most of his life. Born to George and Sarah Shoop in Woodbury, Pa., on January 30, 1926, passed away February 22, 2013 in Roseville, Calif. His family moved to Southern Calif., and just after turning "18", George joined the Navy serving time on the USS Hale as a "Torpedo" man. He was in Tokyo Bay the day the Japanese surrendered. After World War II, he married Mary and they raised a family, starting out in Southern Calif., and then moved to Loomis Calif., in 1959. He worked at Aero Jet, then went on to work in refrigeration and Air Conditioning. He was an active volunteer with the Placer County Sheriff and Roseville Salvation Army Church. He retired at age 58 to fish and to enjoy his life.
He is survived by three daughters, Deb Wilson (Jim), Terri Mahoney (John), and Carol Cook (Doug). He has seven grandchildren: Michelle (Dave), Jennifer (Pete), Brock (Jennifer), Corey, Michael, Erik (Marissa), and Jonathan. Also five great-grandchildren: Mason, Emily, Megan, Nicole, and Taylor. We all loved him and will miss him greatly.
Visitation will be held on Sunday March 3, 2013 from 1 to 5 p.m., at Lambert Funeral Home Chapel 400 Douglas blvd, Roseville Calif. Graveside Services on Monday March 4, 2013 at 2 p.m. Newcastle Cemetery 850 Taylor Road, Newcastle Calif.
