Jean C. O'Connor
Born June 23, 1923 in York, Pa.; passed away November 20, 2012 in Roseville, Calif., November 20, 2012 at 89 years old after a brief illness.
Jean is survived by children: Scott, Burgie (Jeana), Danny (Shelley), and Carole (Dan); grandchildren: Andrea, Tobias, Lila, Pat, Mike; and, great- grandchildren: Jessica, Luke, Logan, Titus, Tobias, and Jensen.
Jean is preceded in death by her husband Barney of 56 years. Jean and Barney met and married while he was in the service during World War II.
Jean was an amazing life force to all who knew her. She was devoted to family and friends. Activities and interests included sewing, painting, refinishing furniture, gardening, canning, flea markets, collecting cook books, crafts, and reading. She was a long-time employee of the Roseville Public Library.
Her real passion was flower arranging. She was an active member of the Auburn Arrangers Guild and the Sacramento Arrangers Guild. She entered many flower shows - winning countless first place ribbons including this year's Best of Show at the Sacramento Camellia Festival. She also received national recognition when her arrangement was featured on the 2007 "Vision of Beauty" calendar, an annual publication of the National Garden Clubs Inc.
Private interment was held November 28, 2012 at Roseville Cemetery. Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, December 1, 2012 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the family home.
