Joy Estelle Forsberg(1926 - 2013)

Joy Estelle Forsberg
3/1/1926 - 4/27/2013

Joy Forsberg of Roseville Calif., passed away from chronic congestive heart failure on April 27, 2013 at the age of 87. Joy was born on March 1, 1926 in San Francisco to Rose and Frank Corso. She was raised in San Francisco, graduating from Mission High School in January, 1943 at the age of 16. An honor student, Joy declined an academic scholarship from UC Berkley in order to accept a job opportunity with Dean Witter. She and the late Frank Forsberg were married in San Francisco on June 1, 1947 and remained wedded for 55 years until Frank's passing in 2002. Joy was also preceded in death by her parents and brother Frank.
Joy, aka "Sis", "Aunty Sissy" and "GG", is survived by her sons, Steve (Sheila) and Jim (Teri) of Roseville; daughter, Susan Dubron (Jeff) of Reno; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Joy always put her family first. In 1949, she and Frank relocated to San Carlos and later to Redwood City to raise their family among great neighbors and surroundings. As a mom, Joy was active in her kid's lives, serving as a den mother, brownie leader, and school volunteer. She worked for 27 years for the Emporium at Stanford (or the "Big E" as she liked to call it). Joy and Frank retired in 1986 and relocated to Roseville to be closer to their family.
Throughout her life, Joy was active with her family and many, many friends. She had a true love for life and enjoyed every type of social event, including parties for any occasion or no occasion at all, sing-along's, annual "beach" trips to Santa Cruz with her girl friends, travel, bridge and a good martini with family or friends. Joy spent the last two and a half years of her life at Sierra Pointe in Roseville, where she made many more friends playing bridge and bingo and participating in various activities. The family wishes to thank the many residents and staff of Sierra Pointe, whose friendship and care made Mom's life a "joy" to the end.
A celebration of Joy's life will be held on Friday, May 17, 11 AM, at the Dante Club, 2330 Fair Oaks Blvd., Sacramento. A sit down luncheon will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made in memory of Joy to the Sacramento Children's Home, 2750 Sutterville Rd. Sacramento 95820, or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Greater Sacramento Chapter, 2143 Hurley Way, Suite 110, Sacramento, CA 95825. Rest in Peace MOM!
