Ramona C Saunders
1931 - 2013
Ramona Carole Saunders, 81, of Auburn, passed away September 13, 2013, in her home after a long battle with cancer.
She was born in 1931 to the late Denzil and Gladys Bronson, in San Francisco, California. She studied accounting at Heald Business College, was self employed several times, and ended her work career with Yuba River Lumber, Bohemia Lumber Company, and Tom Sierra.
Mona grew up in a creative environment and was blessed with a beautiful singing voice. She enjoyed many forms of creative expression, was a voracious reader, and knowledge seeker. Mona's appreciation of beauty was reflected in her home and within her own life.
Actively involved in her community, Mona volunteered in the nursery at Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital in Auburn. A newborn life could not have been held in more loving hands.
She was a blessing, not only to family, but also to her large network of friends. Known for her warmth, infectious sense of humor, and laughter, she was never too busy to talk to anyone. A good listener, she had the ability to make you feel valued and encouraged.
Always a willing worker, Mona's hands were rarely still. Christmas wasn't Christmas until her caramel had been made and wrapped. Her life focus was to love and serve family and friends.
Mona is survived by: her husband, Walt Saunders; son, Adam Schultz; daughter-in-law, Joanie Schultz; son, Dale Saunders; daughter, Debra Saunders; daughter, Lynn Saunders Cherry; son-in-law, Rodger Cherry; by grandchildren, Meggie Schultz, Sierra Huffman, Dillon Huffman, Ty Cherry, and Sierra Cherry. She is also survived by her sister, Opal Jamison; brother-in-law, Bob Jamison; nieces Kerri Larkin and Brooke McGillivray, and a large extended family.
Mona is preceded in death by daughter, Tiffany Paige Schultz.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to Sutter Hospice and V.N.A. in Auburn.
