Harold Benny Wood (Woody)
12/22/1926 - 11/15/2013

Harold Benny Wood, known as Woody to all who loved him, was born December 22, 1926 in Greer, South Carolina to Harold and Jaqueline Wood. He was the third of four children and was raised in Greer by his Uncle TJ, Aunt Margaret, and Mama Wood. Woody enlisted in the Navy in 1944 and served on the U.S.S. Whitley, driving an LCM in the assault and occupation of Iwo Jima and Okinawa. Upon his honorable discharge in 1946 in San Bernardino, Calif.,., he happened into an ice cream parlor that had the prettiest little red head he'd ever seen working behind the counter. Her name was Joyce. A year later on June 27, 1947 Woody and Joyce were married. They lived and worked in Southern Calif., where they had three children Carolyn, Sharon and Danny. The family moved to Loomis, Calif., in 1964 where Woody worked as an air craft mechanic at McClellen Air Force Base until his retirement in 1981. Woody was a dedicated member of The First Baptist Church of Rocklin for more than 30 years. He loved playing golf and was a member of the Indian Creek Men's Club.
Woody was preceded in death by his siblings: Wayne, Bud and Josephine; son, Danny; grandson, Casey and his sweetheart Joyce. He is survived by his daughters: Carolyn, Sharon (Roger); granddaughter, Amy (Kelly); four great-grandchildren; and his brother, Gerald Bud Harp (Margie).
