James D. Larimer "Jim" passed away August 12, 2013 at age 65. Jim, a Foresthill native, was a five time Levi's Ride and Tie Champion, had eight Tevis Cup completions, and one Western States Trail run completion. Jim also enjoyed golf. He was a trail supporter and explorer who embodied the endurance spirit. Jim was instrumental in developing the California Loop Section of the Western States Trail, the Robie Trail, and the Wendell and Inez Robie Equestrian Park. His most recently instigated projects included the Little Bald Mountain Trail out of Robinson Flat and the Boucher Connection from an underway staging area in Todd Valley. Jim had a Bachelor of Arts from the California State University of Sacramento in 1974 and received his teaching credential in 1999. His working career evolved with Auburn Lumber to Heart Federal Savings and Loan into US Bank for over 30 plus years. His enthusiasm for life and kindness toward animals will continue to live on through his surviving wife, Cena Larimer, and his two children, Xo Larimer and Breann Sober.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, October 27, 2013 from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Ridge Golf Club in Auburn. All donations are requested to be made to the Wendell and Inez Robie Foundation at P.O. Box 714, Foresthill, CA 95631.
