Virginia died on June 6, 2012 after a year long battle with cancer. Virginia was the first of three children born to John and Alice Hobbs on July 29, 1921. She grew up in the communities of Augusta and El Dorado, Kansas. She moved with her family to Long Beach, Calif. in the 1940's. While in Long Beach she met and married her first husband David Rickabaugh, an officer in the US Marine Corps. Virginia and David had four children (Dave, Barbara, Mark and Ron) and were married 49 years. A few years after David's death, Virginia married a school friend, Richard Ramsey.
Virginia was active in life. Her most memorable employment was with Palomar College in San Marcos, Calif. She was the manager of the accounting office. She enjoyed playing bridge and she was working on becoming a Master player. She liked playing competitive bridge with friends of equal talent. She was a golfer, quilter, flower decorator, cook, friend, loving wife and mother. She attended church regularly and was a long time member Village Church in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.
Virginia is preceded in death by her mother and father, her sister Mary Cox (Ojai, Calif.) and her husbands, David Rickabaugh and Richard Ramsey. She is survived by her brother, Robert Hobbs (Medford, Ore.), her four children, seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will service will be held for her at the Shepherd of the Sierra Church at 5400 Rocklin Road, Loomis on June 22, 2012 at 2 p.m.
