August W. Knickelbein, age 88, died peacefully at home March 2, 2013, surrounded by his family.
Survived by his wife of 65 years, Virginia nee Stephansen; daughter, Karen Adams of Nashville, Tennessee; sons, Augie Knickelbein (Ann) of Placerville California and David Knickelbein of Chicago Illinois; six grandchildren, Jennifer Knickelbein Lewis (Wayne), Kristin Knickelbein Rigoreau (Claude), Karissa Knickelbein, Dana Knickelbein Fry (Taylor), Timothy Knickelbein, and Brittany Knickelbein; two great-grandchildren, Melina Knickelbein and Alexander Lewis; and his special dog companion, Rocky.
A memorial celebration of his life will be held at a later date. The family is very grateful to the wonderful team of caregivers from Snowline Hospice who provided loving care and support.
Augie worked for General Electric for 34 years. He loved his family, was an avid sports fan, and played soccer, basketball, softball, and golf. He spent years coaching and teaching kids of all ages. Their home was always open to everyone. He was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church. He loved talking to everyone and was loved by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Snowline Hospice, 6520 Pleasant Valley Rd. Diamond Springs, CA 95619.
