Curtis Staggs of Meadow Vista, Calif., passed away on March 20, 2013 after a brief and courageous battle with melanoma. He was 56 years old.
Curtis was an engineer with Amtrak and a conductor with the S.P./U.P. Railroad for over 28 years until his recent retirement. He was an accomplished member of the army boxing team while he served as a medic in the U.S. Army at Ft. Levanworth, KS.
Curt was a lifelong sports enthusiast. His passions included boxing, football, motorcycles, boating, horse back riding, traveling, his many friends and most importantly, his beloved family. Curt loved people and "he never met a stranger". He was a devout Catholic and active in his church.
Curtis was preceeded in death by his mother, Connie, just four months ago. He is survived by his father, Herbert, his loving wife, Lisa, his sisters, Vada Moon ( David), and Donna Moore (Neal), and brother John (Maria). Curtis is the cherished father of Kimberly, Jaclyn, and Curtis ( C.J.) and stepfather of Christina, Ashley, Savannah, and Isabella. He is the dear grandfather of Dylan, Liliana, Nolan, Jameson, and Angelina. He is lovingly remember by his 12 nieces and nephews and five great nieces and nephews and his large extended family.
Curt was often described as "one of a kind" and will be deeply missed., Viewing will be held at Lasilla Funeral Chapel, Tuesday April 2, 1203 from 4 to 7 p.m., 551 G.V. Hwy, Auburn. Rosary will be at the same location 7 to 8 p.m. Funeral will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at 11:30 a.m., 1162 Lincoln Wy, Auburn. Burial will be at the New Auburn Cemetery. Reception following burial at Lasilla Funeral Chapel.
