To: Miss Adams Family,
On behalf of the Fountain Family from Barrhead - two generations send their thoughts and condolences today.
My (Uncle) Jack Fountain passed away last year, however when speaking to U. Jack's wife, Joan today she supported my sharing a story: - Uncle Jack always spoke of his teacher "Miss Adams" - albeit, we believe it was in "the day" when "big farm boys" were not that much younger than their teacher" and probably taller than their teacher!
Uncle Jack may have had the "heavy hand" of Miss Adams administered once or twice from the stories we recall him sharing! Truth be told, we recall a story of Uncle Jack hiding Miss Adams strap - likely shortly after it was put to use! Jack spoke often and fondly of his teacher!
As coincidence would have it, one of Uncle Jack's grandchildren is named Jenna and in U. Jack's later days when sometimes names were hard to recall - the family only had to remind him his granddaugher "has the same name as his teacher" and without pause, Uncle Jack would answer...... Jenna!
The next generation of Fountains from Barrhead would include me and as I send this note on behalf of our entire Fountain family, many of the "baby - boomers" in our clan also recall Miss Adams with great fondness and "no straps"!
Peace Be With You All as you say your goodbyes this week and lay to rest a teacher well respected - so giving to so many students for so very many years in the Barrhead area!
*as an aside, I am the daughter of the late Charlie and Grace Fountain of Barrhead, AB. (Uncle) Jack Fountain was one of Charlie's brothers. I believe the school memories from Uncle Jack would have been from Summerdale area just west of Barrhead.
