STROJICH, William
October 1, 1914 - September 14, 2013
Bill Strojich passed away peacefully on September 14, 2013. He was predeceased by his parents, infant son; Kenneth, wife; Dorothy Evelyn and son-in-law; Carl Chwachka.
He is survived by his daughters; Gwen Strojich, Calgary and Barbara Chwachka, Nakusp, B.C.; grandsons Phillip and Joseph Chwachka and great-granddaughter, Mackenzie Chwachka; sister Genevieve Wattam and many relatives in Alberta and the Ottawa area.
Bill was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and grew up and attended school in Edmonton, Alberta. He earned his BSc. Agriculture and MA in Agricultural Economics from the University of Alberta. He and Dorothy Stanlake/Porter were married in Edmonton June 6, 1942.
Bill served in the Second World War with the Edmonton Fusiliers and the Canadian Intelligence Agency, attaining the rank of Captain. He had a long career as a federal civil servant with Veterans Affairs Canada, Veterans Land Act. After retirement, he volunteered with Canadian Executive Services Overseas, twice in Nigeria, once in the Ukraine and with many Native Groups in Alberta. Bill was a 65 year plus member of the Royal Canadian Legion.
He loved fishing and his woodworking projects. Dad was a gentle family man and a good friend. We will all miss him.
Thank you to Trinity Lodge, you helped make Dad's retirement years active and comfortable. Thank you to the great staff at Carewest Sarcee Hospice. They become almost part of the family.
There will be no service, flowers and donations gratefully declined. The family will hold a private ceremony in the spring in Donalda, Alberta where both Bill and Dorothy will be interred near their son Kenneth.
