YOUNG, Dr. H. Clifton
April 29, 1929 - March 9, 2013
On March 9, 2013, Dr. H. Clifton Young died suddenly of a heart attack in his home.
Clif was born and brought up in the Chicago area. After several years of work experience and graduate studies, Clif received his Ph.D. from Northwestern University in Illinois. In 1971 he joined the Faculty of Business at the University of Alberta where he conducted research and taught courses in marketing.
Clif retired from the university in 1994. Choosing to remain in Edmonton, he became an avid cross-country and downhill skier and, for many years, particularly enjoyed competitive ballroom dancing. His friends will remember him for his enthusiasm, his pride in his work, and his unfailing kindness.
Clif is survived by his family in the United States: sister Marilyn Patricia Young; sister Nancy Jane Dennis and her husband Ian C. Dennis; nephew Joseph K. Dennis, his wife Robin and their two children. He will also be remembered with affection by his former wife, Dr. Jean H. Young.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at St. Timothy's Anglican Church, 8420 - 145 Street, at 10:30 a.m. In Clif's honour, you may wish to make a donation to an organization of your choice.

I was very saddened to hear of Clif's passing. I first met Clif as a student in university, where he never hesitated to offer support and encouragement for all my academic endeavours. After graduation Clif and I became friends and I always looked forward to seeing him whenever I returned to Edmonton.
Clif was kind and generous and a true gentleman. I shall greatly miss him.
With deepest sympathy to his family.

Although Clif retired many years ago, he still popped into the School of Business to visit us every now and then. It always brought a smile to my face to see him, and he always had kind words for everyone.
