Betty NORRIS-RYKS

NORRIS-RYKS, Betty Rose
August 7, 1937 – November 16, 2012
At sunrise on November 16th, 2012, Betty Rose Norris-Ryks entered the Light. At sunset, family members gathered around the grandmother tree at Lake Isle to honor her memory.
Betty dedicated her life to caring for others through her work as a registered nurse, outreach in the inner city and as a lay minister in the United Church.
She was born in Edmonton and grew up in Calgary and Prince Albert. She was a prairie girl at heart despite her 10 years spent in the Yukon. Betty's relationship with nature and wildlife nourished her being. In the last year, her yearning for the Mystery led her to join the Catholic faith.
Betty is predeceased by her son Samuel; father Malcolm; mother Mary; sister Fay; and husbands: Peter and Malcolm.
She will be greatly missed by her children: Alexandra (Tim), Corey and Jodi (Terry); husband Bill and most importantly, by the lights of her life, her grandchildren: Brixton, Sam and Brady. Betty will also be missed by her sisters: Shirley, Sharon, Rhoda, Rhonda and Betty; brothers Russell, Donny, Willy and Norman, as well as her nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
It is with great sorrow that we say goodbye too soon.
Vigil and Prayers will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 23rd and a Celebration of Life on Saturday, November 24th at 11:00 a.m., both to be held at St. Michael Resurrection Catholic Church, 10555 - 50 A Street, Edmonton, AB.
