MACHAN, Christopher Scott
Christopher Scott Machan, beloved son of Ken and Shirley Machan, passed away March 1, 2013 in Palliative Care, Grey Nuns Hospital, Edmonton.
Besides his parents, he leaves to mourn his loss one sister, Karen (David) Balanuik of Norman Wells, NWT, their children, Jessica, Sara, Jordon and Joshua; and their granddaughter Austyn; three brothers, Lindsay of Vancouver B.C., Stephen (Hallie) and children, Tyler and Sarah of Vancouver B.C., Barry (Claudia) of Cold Lake, AB and their children Samantha and Matthew; aunts and uncles and numerous cousins from BC to Ontario; also his CSM family whom he cared for deeply.
Chris was born in Drayton Valley, AB, where he received all his schooling from Grades 1 to 12, graduating from Frank Maddock High School in 1978. He obtained his journeyman heavy duty mechanic certification and after several years work in the oil patch, he joined his father at CSM Compressor Supplies & Machine Works Ltd., subsequently buying the business and growing it from four employees to sixty plus, in Edmonton and Drumheller.
A Celebration of Chris' Life will take place March 9, 2013, at 1:30 p.m. at The Palace Banquet Facility, 3223 Parsons Road (99 Street) Edmonton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wild Sheep Foundation Alberta, (IBC Business Centre 3), 5024 - 49 Street, Box 2639, Rocky Mountain House, Alberta T4T 1L6; Grey Nuns Palliative Care, Room 4030, Attn: Melanie, 1100 Youville Drive W., Edmonton, T6L 5X8, or the Canadian Cancer Society.
