CAMPBELL, Donald James
On Monday, August 20, 2013, Donald James Campbell passed away at the age of 89 years. He will be sadly missed by his daughters, Sandra Cheek (Guy) of Soap Lake, Washington and Pamela Chislett (Eric), of Grande Prairie, Alberta; his grandchildren, Jamie and Kristin and his great-grandchildren, Pierre and Alyssa. Don was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta where he attended the University of Alberta and then moved on to Purdue University for his PhD. He was a lover of the arts, theater and books, and was an accomplished writer, editing a professional journal for many years.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Martha Donnelly and Carolyn Tanner of the GPOT Department at VGH for their care and guidance over these past few years. And thanks especially to Roseanne Thorsteinson and Rosalie Bendoval for their kindness, caring and attention towards the end of Don's life.
Memorial donations will be grate- fully accepted at the University of Alberta Hospital Foundation (www.universityhospitalfoundation.ab.ca), VGH + UBC Hospital Foundation (vghfoundation.ca) or a charity of one's choice. Dear Sandra and Pam,
I just received the news about your father. I am so very sorry. Don was my neighbour for about 10 years before I moved away. I was privileged to attend some of his legendary pool parties. He was a true renaissance man. Please accept my deepest condolences.

With fond memories and sadness, I would like to extend my sympathy to his family. Don was a dear, close friend of my deceased husband, William Anderson. We shared many wonderful celebrations, events, meals and outings. Don was an amazingly interesting person. He loved the theatre and classical music events and the Alberta Alumni Luncheons Don and I shared together after my husband died and Don could no longer drive. He shall be missed.
With warm regards,

Sandra and Pamela Just want you to know that I was sorry to see the news about your dad in the Edmonton Journal recently. I have good memories of him. He worked with my husband, Bob, at Chemcell years ago. We did have a good visit with him at his house in Vancouver about 8 years ago. Bob died in 2007. At my age so many friends have passed away!

My sympathy to you and your families.

Pamela and Sandra,

It was with great sadness that I heard of the passing of your father and I pass my sincere condolences to you both and your families. Don was a wonderful colleague and friend for a great many years, both in Edmonton and later during his years in Vancouver. We had many spirited discussions during our aquaintance and I missed our conversations of late during his illness.

Please accept my sincere best wishes to you both and your families during this period of mourning. Kind Regards.

Keith Walker.
