CHISHOLM, Dorothy Lyall "Dodie"
(nee Bieber)
June 16, 1925 – December 17, 2012
Dodie was born in Kerrobert, Saskatchewan and grew up in Prince Albert with her parents Max and Rebecca Bieber. She came to Edmonton in 1944 and stayed with her aunt, Letitia Norris, while in training as an X-ray technician at the University of Alberta Hospital. In 1949 she married Donald Chisholm and they raised their four loving children who survive her along with her devoted husband of 63 years.
Left to remember her are Lois (John) Sartor and their sons Jeffrey and Craig; Lorne Chisholm; Bruce (Wendy) Chisholm; Janet "Jan" McLean (Gord Anderson); Jan's daughters Megan Culham and Kelly (Nelson) Parkes, as well as their daughters Maya and Grace. She also leaves special sisters-in-law Ollie Chisholm and Doreen (Cliff) Driver, fourteen nieces and nephews and their families along with many wonderful friends.
Dodie's interests were skating, tennis, ladies bridge club, long walks, square and round dancing, volunteering at both The Cross Cancer Hospital and Meals on Wheels, sewing, gardening and raising her family. She was a member of St Paul's Church almost from its beginning and took part in many of its activities. Dodie and Don were fortunate to travel extensively to foreign lands and were frequent visitors to their family living in BC.
Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and support staff at the University Hospital for their kindness and care over the last six weeks. A Celebration of Dodie's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday December 21, 2012 at St. Paul's United Church, 11526 – 76 Avenue NW, Edmonton, AB, T6G 0K7.
In lieu of other tributes, donations may be made to St. Paul's United Church or a charity of your choice.
