DALES, Edwin (Eddy) Mansfield
May 16, 1926 – April 9, 2014
"Sometimes memories sneak out of my eyes and roll down my cheeks."
It is with profound sadness that the family of Eddy announce his passing, with family at his side, on April 9, 2014 at the age of 87. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Esther and her daughters Roseanne (Ron) Quintal, Corry Dales, grandchildren Jesse, Tyson, step grandchildren Darcy Quintal (Keri), Tracey Neil (Sergio Satori) and step great grandchildren children Adam, Kaytlynn, Kylah, Gracie and Liam.
Eddy was predeceased by his first wife, Dorothy, April 10, 1973 and together they had eight children all who survive their father. Heather (Bill) Haynes, Hazel (Brian) Bourke, Jeannette (Ken) Bowman, Romona (Darrell) Singh, Susan Dales, Glenn (Coleen) Dales, Lorna (Vern) Porter, Holly (Maurice) Durand. Also survived by grandchildren, Levi (Kim), Jana (Chad), Shane (Robin), Shawna, Tim (Paula) Chris (Hannah), Kerry (Stephen), Jeremy (Katie), Joshua, Grant (Deanna), Jolene (Barry), Eric (Carla), Brandon, Nicole (Rob), Janine, Amanda. Great grandchildren, Aiden, Raia, Seth, Reese, Melena, Nash, Sarah, Carter, Lucas, Katelyn, Hailey, brother Roy Dales, sister Vivian Haevens, sisters in law Florence Dales and Frances Dales and many nieces and nephews. Eddy was predeceased by his brothers Rex and Victor and sisters Leslie (Teddy) and Dorothy (Girlie).
Eddy owned a grocery store in Onoway for 50 years with family. He was involved with the community as a member of St. John's Anglican Church, Boy Scout Leader, Masonic Lodge Member, a member of Onoway Historical Society, and Volunteer Fire Chief.
Eddy spent the last 5 1/2 years at Foyer Lacombe in St Albert and the family would like to thank all staff members and residents of Foyer Lacombe for their loving care. The family would also like to thank the staff of Sturgeon Hospital for their compassionate support while Eddy was in hospital.
A Funeral Service will be held at Onoway Museum on April 14, 2014 at 2:00 pm. 4708 Lac Ste. Anne Trial, Onoway with Reverend Tom Dean officiating. Lunch to follow. Donations greatly accepted in memory of Eddy to St. John's Anglican Church Box 933, Onoway, T0E 1V0 or Onoway & District Historical Guild, Box 1368, Onoway, Alberta T0E 1V0.
