After a hard fought battle with cancer Ermis passed away peacefully at home in Kelowna surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by Katie his wife of 46 yrs, daughters Lana Richardson (Sean) Carrie Coburn (Chris) grandchildren Jared Cassandra and Jacob. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, friend and sadly missed.
Ermis began his life in Drumheller, AB. An orphan at an early age he spent time in the Lacombe boys home and foster care in the Edmonton area. As a young man he worked for AGT as a line man installing phone service throughout Alberta. In 1968 he moved his family to Kelowna where he worked for OK Tel which later became BC Tel enjoying a 35 year career in Telecommunications. He was an integral part of setting up the 911 system throughout the Okanagan valley in the 1980's and a regular fixture at the Kelowna RCMP detachment troubleshooting at all hours. Throughout his time in the Okanagan he could be found skiing at Big White on his days off. In the 1970's he was a volunteer ski patroller and his love of the mountain kept him floating through the powder until he was 70.
The family would like to thank all the friends, family, neighbours and home care workers who assisted during the past two years offering their love and support. A private service will be held in the spring. Condolences can be sent to and donations can be made to the Salvation Army.
