COSKEY, Gary Peter
April 1, 1940 – June 13, 2014
It is with deep sorrow that the family of Gary Coskey announces his unexpected passing on the morning of Friday, June 13, 2014, at the age of 74.
Gary was a devoted and generous man of great integrity, who had a great concern for others. Gary was an educator and consultant in the field of business and financial planning. He practiced as a Chartered Accountant in his own firm for more than 40 years in the areas of accounting, consulting, taxation, and more recently as a business advisor.
He has lectured at the University of Alberta and Grant MacEwan, and delivered financial planning seminars for major corporations. Gary authored several books on Wealth Creation, and Family Business, and occasionally co-hosted a radio talk show on CFCW called "Making Money". His expertise on taxation and financial planning was widely known and appreciated. Gary was an avid baseball fan, music lover, and treasured time with his family and friends.
He leaves to mourn his loving wife Bonnie Coskey; sister Caroline; his daughter Kathy (Walker); his son Tom (Julie); his three grandsons Patrick, Bryan, and Andrew; and numerous nieces, nephews, family members, and friends. Gary was predeceased by his parents Peter and Ethel Coskey of Calgary.
A Celebration of his Life will be held for family and friends on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Westlawn Funeral Chapel, 16310 Stony Plain Road, Edmonton.

Dear Bonnie and family, we just received the letter in the mail about Gary's passing. Myself and Gerard have been away for the past month and have not heard the sad news. For the past 7 years he was not only our financial adviser but he was also a real gentleman! He helped us set up our business accounting and was always there to answer any question about anything. He spoke fondly of you and your children many times. We will miss his wit and sense of humor. Our condolences to all your family. May he rest in peace!

We were shocked to hear of Gary's passing. Unfortunately we were in Brazil at the time and unable to attend the service but our thoughts were very much with you. Gary and I were close friends as articling students and good friends during our careers. I only wish I had taken the time to see Gary more recently but that seems to happen as we age. Gary was a great guy and I am sure that you will all miss him immensely in the days ahead; but I am sure you all have very fond memories, as I do, to help you through this difficult time. Bonnie, if I can help you in any way please let me know. We have lost a great man and a wonderful friend.
Our thoughts are with you.
