COURTNEY, Josephina Martina
On March 5, 2014, Josephina Martina Courtney passed away.
She will be fondly remembered by her twin sister, Margreet Batenburg; nieces, Tineke (Hans) Hoogstraten-Batenburg and Margreet (Jan Hendrik) Batenburg, Josephine, Jeannette and nephew Kees Hartman; Great-nieces Annemarie (Paul) and Ingeborg (Freek) and their children Sanne and Koen; Mary Whale and many other friends. She was predeceased by her beloved Leslie McCarthy, her brother Kees Hartman and her parents.
Josephina came to Canada from the Netherlands in 1947 as a war bride. Her life was a tapestry of relationships; each blessed with her unique joie de vivre. She was known to the Edmonton retail art business from the 60's onwards and thrived on nurturing artists' careers. Josephina loved all the arts but her heart was dedicated to her daughter, Leslie.
There will be a memorial at All Saints' Anglican Cathedral (10035-103 Street, Edmonton, AB) on Thursday, April 24, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. If desired, donations may be made to World Vision.
